Research reports

The Research reports view (under Explore & edit) is where you read the written output of an agentic analysis. While the other views show your coded data, Research reports shows the analytical write-up: for each agentic analysis, Skimle produces a short executive summary, a research report, and an extensive storyline that answers your research question.

If your project has no agentic analysis yet, this view invites you to set one up; agentic analyses are the only mode that generate reports.

Layout

The view has two panes. On the left is a list of the agentic analyses in the project; select one to read its report on the right. Each report is generated at the end of an agentic analysis run. If you re-run the analysis, the report is regenerated to reflect the latest data.

What a report contains

A report pulls together the findings of the analysis into readable prose, organised into sections such as:

• By the numbers: the headline counts behind the analysis, including empirical insights and analytical themes.
• Findings summary: the cross-cutting answer to your research question.
• Observations and Within-case trajectories: the analytical themes, grounded in the coded evidence.
• Counter-evidence: evidence that argues against the findings, so the write-up is transparent about its limits.

Reports can also include a relationship flowchart that shows how themes connect, for example where one theme causes, enables, precedes, contrasts with, or is associated with another.

Every claim in a report traces back to the underlying insights and quotes, so you can check any statement against the material it came from, exactly as in the categories view.
