Editing in categories view

The categories view includes a built-in editing mode that lets you reorganise your category tree without leaving the page. You can merge overlapping categories, remove categories while reassigning their insights, restructure subcategories, and drag categories to new positions.

Turning on editing mode

At the top-right corner of the category tree panel you will find the Edit categories toggle. Switch it on to enter editing mode.

When editing mode is active, two things change:

• A checkbox appears next to every category so you can select one or more categories for bulk actions.
• Categories become draggable — you can drag one category onto another to merge or move it.

Switch the toggle off to return to the normal browsing mode. Your selections are cleared automatically.

Action buttons

Once you have selected one or more categories using the checkboxes, a set of action buttons appears at the bottom of the category tree panel.

Delete categories

Available when at least one category is selected.

Permanently deletes the selected categories. Insights that are not also assigned to other remaining categories are deleted along with the category. All memos, notes, and tags related to deleted categories are also removed.

Remove and reassign

Available when at least one category is selected.

Opens a dialog where you can delete the selected categories. Before deletion, you choose where to reassign their subcategories and insights. The dialog provides AI-powered similarity suggestions to help you pick the most appropriate target categories.

Merge categories

Available when two or more categories are selected.

Combines the selected categories into a single category. All insights from every selected category are moved into the merged result. The dialog suggests a name for the merged category based on the content of the categories being combined.

Recreate structure

Available when exactly one top-level category is selected.

Reorganises the subcategories of the selected category using AI. The dialog analyses the insights within the category, suggests organisational principles, and generates a new subcategory structure. You can review and edit the proposed structure before applying it.

Drag and drop

When editing mode is on, you can drag any category and drop it onto another. A dialog appears offering two choices:

• Merge — combine the dragged category into the target category (same as the merge button, but for two categories).
• Move as child — make the dragged category a subcategory of the target.
